On the morning of April 26, Deputy Director of Tien Giang Provincial Police Nguyen Viet Hung directly went to the scene to direct the fire fighting work.
The fire that happened at the warehouse of Viet Nhu Y Company, specializing in the production of fruit packaging until 8 am this morning, has been extinguished, but the fire is still smoldering in the lychee warehouse area, so the firefighting force of the Provincial Police and the Company Cai Be district police are still continuing to handle the fire to prevent the fire from re-igniting.
According to initial information, around 3 am on the same day, people in hamlet 4, Tan Hung commune, Cai Be district discovered a fire coming from the warehouse of Viet Nhu Y Company. Only a short time, the fire broke out violently with a high smoke column covering the warehouse area of thousands of square meters. Local people together to protect the company actively put out the fire but failed.
Due to the warehouse containing many flammable objects and experiencing high winds, the fire broke out strongly, making it difficult for the fire fighting on the spot.
Upon receiving the news, the provincial police dispatched many specialized fire trucks and professional firefighting forces to the scene to control the fire and prevent the fire from spreading.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thanh, Chairman of Cai Be District People's Committee, said that by 9.30am this morning, the fire had been completely extinguished. Initially, the specific amount of damage has not been determined, but according to the business owner, the loss is estimated at 40 billion, including 2 trucks with thousands of tons of packaging and many other machinery, equipment and factories...
The fire is being investigated by authorities.
